The GMKtec NucBox G3 Plus is a palm-sized Windows 11 Pro PC built around the Intel N150. This configuration ships with 16GB DDR4 and a 512GB NVMe SSD, a comfortable spec for a home office, a POS counter, a classroom or a second PC that sits behind a monitor.
It is not a gaming or editing machine. What it does well is quiet, low-power everyday work: browsing with many tabs, Office files, video calls, streaming, and light home server duty, with 2.5G Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 on board.
Key Features and What They Mean
Intel N150: efficient, not fast
The N150 has 4 cores and 4 threads, boosts up to 3.6GHz and is rated at 6W TDP. In PC Watch’s review of the 16GB / 512GB unit, the G3 Plus scored 3,070 in PCMark 10 and 2,555 in Cinebench R23 multi-core on the default Balance power setting. Setting the BIOS “Power Limit Select” to High Performance raised the Cinebench R23 multi-core score to 2,919. In our assessment that is enough for office work, but well below any Core i5 or Ryzen 5 system for heavy multitasking.
16GB on a single memory slot
The G3 Plus has one DDR4 SO-DIMM slot, so memory runs in single channel and tops out at 32GB. 16GB is the sensible amount for Windows 11 with a browser and Office open together. Going to 32GB later means replacing the 16GB module rather than adding one.
Room for a second SSD
Besides the M.2 2280 NVMe slot that holds the included 512GB drive, there is an empty M.2 2242 SATA slot (GMKtec rates it up to 2TB). It takes the short 2242 length and the SATA protocol, not a full-size 2280 NVMe drive, so check the drive before buying one.
Dual 4K displays and fast networking
Two HDMI ports drive two monitors at up to 4096 × 2160 at 60Hz. Networking is a 2.5G Intel i226-V Ethernet port plus Realtek Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, and all four USB-A ports are USB 3.2 Gen 2. There is no USB-C port on this model.
Competitive Positioning
The G3 Plus sits at the entry level of mini PCs. Against older N100 units it is a mild step up in clock speed. Against Core i3 or Ryzen 3 mini PCs it trades multi-core performance and graphics for lower power draw and a smaller footprint. Buyers who need triple displays, USB-C video, dual-channel memory or more processing headroom should look at higher tier NucBox models such as the M3 Pro or M6 Ultra.
Philippine Buyer Perspective
Our Take
For Philippine homes and small offices the 6W chip is the main attraction: it keeps power use and heat low, which matters in warm rooms without aircon and on long daily runtimes. PC Watch found the fan barely audible unless you put your ear to the vents. The limits are real though: one memory slot, no USB-C, and modest graphics. Buy it for office, school, POS and media use, not for games or editing.
Known Compatibility and Setup Notes
Recommended: the BIOS ships on the Balance power limit. PC Watch measured higher multi-core results after switching “Power Limit Select” to High Performance, with more heat and fan activity as the trade-off.
Possible consideration: the second SSD slot is M.2 2242 SATA only. A standard 2280 NVMe drive will not fit it.
Who Should Buy This
Home office and students Documents, browsing, online classes and video calls on one or two monitors.
Small business counters POS, inventory and front desk PCs that need to be small, quiet and VESA mounted behind a screen.
